Latona is a small, quiet place in Jasper County, in the state of Illinois, USA. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
The Story of Latona
Latona began a long time ago, in 1869. That's when people first planned out the community. A few years later, in 1877, a post office opened in Latona. This was a big deal because it meant people could send and receive letters and packages right there. The post office served the community for many years. It finally closed its doors in 1920.
