Laurence Ferrari was born in a town called Aix-les-Bains in France. Her father, Gratien Ferrari, was once the mayor of the city. He was also a member of the French National Assembly, which is like a parliament. Her family has roots in Italy.

Laurence studied at the French School for Press Attachés in Lyon. She also earned a Master's degree in Political and Social Communication from Sorbonne University in Paris. She is the oldest of three sisters and is a talented piano player.

Laurence Ferrari started her career in 1986. She worked as a stringer, which is a journalist who reports on specific events, for the French news agency AFP. She also wrote for Le Figaro Magazine. Later, she worked at the radio station Europe 1, focusing on health policy.

She began her television career in 1994. She worked with famous TV hosts like Michel Drucker on France 2. She also worked with Jean-Pierre Pernaut on TF1. In 2001, she co-hosted a Sunday evening show called Sept à Huit on TF1.

Laurence Ferrari married Thomas Hughes in 1993. They had two children together. The couple separated in October 2007.

In 2008, Laurence started a relationship with the violinist Renaud Capuçon. They got married in July 2009 in Paris. They have one child together.
