About Leigh Eddings
Early Life and Family
Leigh Eddings was born Judith Leigh Schall. Her birthplace was Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, in the USA. She later met David Eddings in Seattle. Her husband, David, said that Leigh was partly of Choctaw heritage.
Leigh served in the Air Force. David Eddings often described her as a very skilled person. He said she was an amazing cook. She was also a highly talented fisherwoman. In addition, she was an excellent markswoman.
Leigh married David Eddings in 1962. They adopted a son named Scott David in 1966. Later, between 1966 and 1969, they adopted a younger girl. In 1971, David and Leigh Eddings moved to Denver. There, David worked at a grocery store.
Her Writing Career
Leigh Eddings worked with David on his books. She was a co-author for High Hunt, which came out in 1973. She also helped write all of David's books that came after that. However, her name was not on the cover as a co-author for many years.
She was finally credited as a co-author in 1995. This happened with the book Belgarath the Sorcerer. Before that, a publisher named Lester del Rey thought it was better to have only one author's name on the books. He believed having multiple authors listed could cause problems.
Later Life
Leigh Eddings passed away on February 28, 2007. She died in Carson City, Nevada.
