Lela Tsurtsumia (Georgian: ლელა წურწუმია) is a famous singer and actress from Georgia. She was born on February 12, 1969, in Tbilisi. Lela grew up in Tbilisi and studied at the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film University. She sings in several languages, including Georgian, Megrelian, and Laz.

Lela's Musical Journey

Lela Tsurtsumia started her musical journey very early, at just five years old. She worked with vocal teachers to develop her singing skills. Her training in theater also helped her create a unique style and stage presence.

Early Career and Big Break

From 1996 to 1999, Lela was a singer in a group called "Taigouli." She also performed songs at a restaurant named "Europa." It was there that she met Kakha Mamulashvili, who would later become her manager and husband.

In 2000, Lela Tsurtsumia made history. She held the first-ever big show concert in Georgia by a Georgian singer. This was a huge step for her career and for Georgian music.

Setting Records and Reaching Fans

Lela continued to achieve great success. In 2002, she performed another amazing show at the Tbilisi Sports Palace. More than 25,000 people came to watch her, which was a record at the time.

She set another record in 2004 with her popular album Suleli Tsvima, which means "Crazy Rain." This album sold over 60,000 copies in Georgia. Lela's music also reached fans outside of Georgia, selling more than 10,000 albums in places like Israel, the U.S., and Russia.

International Popularity

Lela Tsurtsumia's songs are loved in many countries. In Armenia, she is especially popular. Her songs like "Samba" and "Love Story" became number one hits there. Armenian singers even covered her songs, showing how much they admired her music.

After 2006, Lela started performing mainly with her live jazz band. This gave her music a fresh and exciting sound. On August 11, 2006, she held a concert in Zugdidi that drew over 40,000 people.

In 2007, Lela signed with a music company called Art Lend. This helped her albums become available in European online music stores, including The Orchard.
