Lela Tsurtsumia (Georgian: ლელა წურწუმია) was born on February 12, 1969. She is a famous singer and actress from Georgia. Lela was born and grew up in Tbilisi, the capital city. She studied at the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film University. Lela sings in three languages: Georgian, Megrelian, and Laz.

Lela's Musical Journey
Lela Tsurtsumia started her musical journey very early, at just five years old! She worked with vocal teachers to develop her amazing voice. Her training in theater also helped her create a unique style and stage presence.
Starting Her Professional Career
From 1996 to 1999, Lela was a singer in a group called "Taigouli." She began performing songs at a restaurant named "Europa." There, she met Kakha Mamulashvili, who would later become her manager and husband.
Making History with Concerts
In 2000, Lela Tsurtsumia held a special concert. It was the first show concert in Georgia ever put on by a Georgian singer. This was a big moment for music in her country!
In 2002, Lela had another very successful show. It took place at the Tbilisi Sport Hall. More than 25,000 people came to watch her perform, which was a record for the venue.
Record-Breaking Albums
Lela set another record in 2004 with her popular album Suleli Tsvima. This album sold over 60,000 copies in Georgia. Her music was also popular outside of Georgia. She sold more than 10,000 albums in other countries, including Israel, the U.S., and Russia.
Lela's songs are even covered by other artists in different countries. For example, she is very popular in Armenia. Her songs like "Samba" and "Love Story" became number one hits there. Armenian singers have also performed their own versions of her songs.
After 2006, Lela Tsurtsumia started performing mainly with her live jazz band. On August 11, 2006, she held a big concert in Zugdidi. Over 40,000 people came to see her perform live.
In 2007, Lela signed with a music company called Art Lend. This helped her albums be sold in online music stores across Europe, like The Orchard.
