Lena Beach is a small community located near Juneau, the capital city of Alaska, United States. It is about 14 miles (23 kilometers) northwest of Juneau. This area is known for its beautiful coastal views and natural surroundings.

Lena Beach has a unique history when it comes to how its population was counted.

Early Census Records

Lena Beach first appeared in the official United States population counts, called the U.S. Census, in 1940. At that time, it was listed as a small, unincorporated village. This means it wasn't officially part of a larger city or town. It was counted again in the 1950 Census.

Changes in the 1970s

By 1970, the way Lena Beach was recorded changed. In that year's census, it was listed under the name "Lena Cove." Also in 1970, a big change happened for all the communities in the Juneau area. All the smaller places within the Juneau Borough were officially combined, or "consolidated," into the larger City and Borough of Juneau. This meant Lena Beach became part of the bigger city area.
