About Leontia Flynn
Leontia Flynn was born in Downpatrick, County Down. She grew up in the areas of Dundrum and Newcastle. She attended Assumption Grammar School in Ballynahinch.
She later studied English at Queen's University Belfast. There, she earned both a degree and a PhD. She also completed a master's degree at Edinburgh University. Since 2005, Leontia Flynn has been a professor. She teaches at the Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen's University.

Her book The Radio was a finalist for the T. S. Eliot Prize. It also won the Poetry Now award from the Irish Times. In 2021, her short collection "Nina Simone is Singing" was a finalist for the Michael Marks Awards for Poetry Pamphlets.
In 2022, she became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. This is a great honor for writers. In 2024, she won the Cholmondeley Award for her book Taking Liberties.
