Lesley Thomson's Career in Law
Lesley Thomson started her journey as a lawyer with a company called SSEB. Later, in 1985, she became a Procurator Fiscal. A Procurator Fiscal is like a public prosecutor in Scotland. Their job is to decide if there's enough evidence to take someone to court for a crime.
Working on Complex Cases
Most of Lesley Thomson's career focused on crimes where people tried to trick others out of money or property. She worked to bring these people to court. She also made sure that criminals could not keep any money or things they got illegally.
She worked as a Procurator Fiscal in different areas. These included Selkirk and Edinburgh. In May 2008, she became the area Procurator Fiscal for Glasgow. This was a very important role.
Leading Investigations
Lesley Thomson was a leader in court trials and in looking into the causes of deaths. She worked for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS). This is the main public prosecution service in Scotland.
She was known as an expert in handling serious crimes. This included crimes committed by organized groups and financial crimes. She also knew a lot about laws that help take back money or property gained from crime. She even wrote a book about this topic.
