What Was the Go Healthy Challenge?
The Let's Just Play Go Healthy Challenge was created to help kids become more active and eat better. It taught them how to make healthy choices every day. The show was strongly supported by Nickelodeon itself. It also had help from The Alliance for a Healthier Generation. This group was started by the Clinton Foundation and the American Heart Association.
Who Else Helped?
Nickelodeon and The Alliance for a Healthier Generation also worked with other groups. They formed the Go Healthy Challenge Champions Network. These groups helped the show reach more kids. They also helped spread the word about living healthy. Some of these helpers included:
- The American Heart Association
- The American Diabetes Association
- The National Recreation and Park Association
These groups worked together to encourage more kids to join the challenge. They also helped everyone learn about the importance of being healthy.
How Kids Could Join In
Kids could find out more about the show and even sign up online. They could visit the show's website to get information. Also, TurboNick would show videos from the kids who were part of the challenge. These videos were like personal diaries.
In September 2006, Nickelodeon Magazine also featured the show. It shared stories about three kids who were working to improve health in their towns.
Worldwide Day of Play
The Worldwide Day of Play is a special event that happens every year. It's a day for kids and their parents to go outside and play! The Go Healthy Challenge finale would air during this event. This usually happened on the last Saturday of September.
On the Worldwide Day of Play, Nickelodeon does something unique. All Nickelodeon channels go off the air for three hours! This happens from 12 Noon to 3 PM ET/PT. It's a way to encourage everyone to turn off their screens and go play!
