Early Life and Education
Letícia Román was born in Rome, Italy, in 1941. Her mother, Giuliana Gianni, was a stage actress. Her father, Vittorio Nino Novarese, was a talented screenwriter and costume designer.
Letícia did not go to a regular school. Instead, she was taught by private teachers. This education was similar to what students learn in an American high school. She learned to speak five different languages very well.
Even though her parents were in the entertainment business, they did not want her to become an actress. However, after she moved to Hollywood, Letícia decided to study acting. She learned from a famous acting teacher named Sandy Meisner. She also worked with Gladys Vogeler to help reduce her Italian accent.
Acting Career
Letícia Román began her movie career in 1960. Her first small role was in the Elvis Presley film G.I. Blues. In this movie, she played a character named Tina.
Her first main role came in the 1963 film The Girl Who Knew Too Much. In this mystery movie, she played Nora Davis. Nora is a woman who loves mysteries and thinks she saw a murder happen. After finishing this film, Letícia traveled to Germany. There, she made several more movies.
Later Years and Retirement
Letícia Román stopped acting in 1966. This was after she married Peter Anthony Gelles. They had one child together.
Later, for a short time, Letícia worked in the real estate business. This means she helped people buy and sell houses or other properties. She did this work in Los Angeles.
