Instead, it's part of the larger county.

The Story of Leverton

Every place has a story, and Leverton is no different! This small community got its start a long time ago.

How Leverton Got Its Name

Back in 1883, a special office called a post office was opened in Leverton. A post office was super important in those days because it was how people sent and received letters and packages. The person in charge of the post office was called a postmaster.

One of the early postmasters in this area was a man named Leverton Wilcox. He was so important to the community that the people decided to name the place after him! The post office stayed open for many years, helping people connect, until it closed in 1901. Even though the post office is gone, the name "Leverton" still reminds us of its history and the man who helped shape it.
