Historically, Hawaii's Lieutenant Governors have been members of either the Hawaii Democratic Party or the Hawaii Republican Party. Four people who were Lieutenant Governor later became Governor of Hawaii: George Ariyoshi, Ben Cayetano, John D. Waiheʻe III, and Josh Green.
