History of Lightsville
Lightsville was officially planned out, or platted, in 1874. It was named after William B. Light, who was involved in its creation.
A post office was opened in Lightsville in 1886. Having a post office was a big deal for small communities back then, as it helped people send and receive mail. This post office served the community for many years before it closed down in 1907.
