Early Studies and Google Work

Lilly Irani went to Stanford University. She earned two degrees there in 2004. One was about science, technology, and society. The other was a master's degree in computer science. She focused on how people use computers. This field is called human-computer interaction.

After Stanford, she worked at Google from 2003 to 2007. There, she helped design how people interact with computer programs. This is known as user interface design.

Professor Irani then went back to school. She earned her Ph.D. in informatics in 2013. She studied at the University of California, Irvine. Informatics is about how information is processed and used. Her main project was about how people become "entrepreneurial citizens" in India.
