About the Lincoln MKT
The Lincoln MKT is a special type of vehicle. It combines the comfort of a regular car with the space of an SUV. This makes it a "crossover" vehicle. Lincoln is a brand known for making luxury cars.
What is a Crossover?
A crossover is like a mix between a regular car and a sport utility vehicle (SUV). It often drives more like a car. But it still offers the higher seating position and extra space of an SUV. The MKT was designed to be a comfortable and stylish ride.
Key Features
The Lincoln MKT was built on the same base as other Ford vehicles. This base is called the Ford D4 platform. It was Lincoln's fancy version of the Ford Flex and Explorer. These cars shared many parts under their different bodies.
Seating and Space
The MKT was designed to be roomy inside. It could seat either six or seven people. This made it a good choice for families or for carrying groups. The seats were comfortable and the interior felt luxurious.
Its Place in the Lincoln Family
The MKT took the place of a few other Lincoln models. It replaced the Lincoln Town Car, which was a large sedan. It also replaced the mid-size Aviator SUV. The MKT fit between the bigger Navigator SUV and the smaller MKZ crossover SUV. This meant Lincoln had a vehicle for different needs.
End of Production
The Lincoln MKT did not sell as well as expected. Because of this, Lincoln decided to stop making it. Production of the MKT ended in 2017. It is not yet known if a new vehicle will take its place in the Lincoln lineup.
