Linda Fierz-David facts for kids
Linda Fierz-David (1891–1955) was a German scholar who studied languages and literature. She was one of the first Jungian analysts in Zurich, Switzerland. She was also the first woman allowed to study at the University of Basel.
Linda Fierz-David met Carl Jung in 1920. She became one of his first students and a close friend. She was very interested in many subjects. She collected rare books and studied psychology, anthropology, mythology, and literature.
In 2007, a Spanish newspaper called El Pais described Fierz-David as a very important researcher in analytical psychology. She was part of a group of notable women who worked with Carl Jung in Zurich.

Linda Fierz-David was very active in her field. She collected many rare books. She also spent time studying psychology, which is the study of the mind. She was involved with the C. G. Jung Institute in Zurich. This is a place where people study Jungian psychology. She became the head of this institute in 1928.

The Dream of Poliphilo

Villa of Mysteries
Another book she wrote is called Villa of Mysteries, published in 1957. It was also known as Women's Dionysian Initiation: The Villa of Mysteries in Pompeii. In this book, Fierz-David used Jungian ideas to analyze a special room in the ancient Roman city of Pompeii. This room has paintings that show a ceremony for women. Later, this book was published with another text by Nor Hall. The combined book was titled Dreaming in Red: The Women's Dionysian Initiation Chamber in Pompeii.
A review of Villa of Mysteries in 2007 said it was not just about history. It was a very "Jungian" book. It looked at the paintings in Pompeii but also expanded its ideas to all of Roman culture. It suggested that what happened in Pompeii was also true in other parts of the Roman Empire.
Her Family Life
Linda Fierz-David was married to Hans Eduard Fierz. He was a professor of chemistry in Zurich. He also wrote a book called History of Chemistry in 1945.
Their son, Markus Fierz, was born in 1912. He became a physicist, studying how the world works at a very basic level. Linda and Hans also had another son, Heinrich-Karl Fierz. He also studied with Carl Jung. Heinrich-Karl became a psychiatrist, a doctor who helps people with mental health. He worked at different clinics and helped start the Klinik am Zürichberg in 1964.
