Her Journey in Fashion

Linda Lundström was born in Red Lake, Ontario. She grew up in a small town nearby called Cochenour. When she was a child, her mother gave her a sewing machine. Linda quickly learned to make clothes for herself and her friends.

She loved fashion so much that she studied it at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario. After that, she won a special scholarship. This allowed her to travel to Europe to learn even more about fashion design.

Starting Her Own Business

When Linda came back to Canada, she started her own fashion business. This was in Toronto, Ontario in 1974. Her clothes and accessories became very popular. You could find her designs in her own stores. They were also sold in big stores across North America and Europe. These included places like Hudson's Bay Company and Nordstrom.

Linda is especially famous for a stylish winter coat called the LAPARKA. It became a very popular design.

Awards and Recognition

Linda Lundström has received many awards for her work. She has even been given special university degrees. In 1995, she was named to the Order of Ontario. This is a very high honor given to people who have done great things for the province of Ontario. She also received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2013.

Linda is also recognized for supporting First Nations awareness. She believes in making clothes in a fair and ethical way.

Facing Challenges and New Beginnings

Around 2007, the economy faced some tough times. This made things difficult for many businesses, including Linda's. In 2008, her company had to seek protection from bankruptcy. This meant they needed help to manage their debts.

Later, a company called Elgner Group bought her business. Linda was able to design again for a while. In 2012, she launched a brand new fashion line. She called it "L designed by Linda Lundström."

In 2016, Linda started another new clothing brand. She worked with her two daughters, Mosha and Sophie. Their new outerwear brand is called Therma Kota.
