Her Early Life and Start in Fashion
Lindsay grew up in Brown Deer, Wisconsin. After finishing her studies at Buena Vista University in Iowa, she started her career. She got an internship at Teen Vogue. An internship is like a training period where you learn about a job. Later, she worked as an assistant at the same company.
Working at The Cut and Teen Vogue
After her time at Teen Vogue, Lindsay moved to The Cut. This is an online magazine about style and culture. It is part of New York Magazine. There, she worked as a fashion editor. While at The Cut, she wrote an important article. It was about what it's like to be a Black person in the fashion industry. She talked to 100 people for this story.
In October 2018, Lindsay became the editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue. This made her the youngest person to hold such a high position at a Condé Nast magazine. She was also the third African-American person to become an editor-in-chief at one of their publications.
Making a Difference in Fashion
In 2020, Lindsay started something very important. She co-founded the Black in Fashion Council with Sandrine Charles. This group works to make the fashion industry more fair. They want to see real change when it comes to race and including everyone.
The Black in Fashion Council got support from many people. About 400 Black models, stylists, and executives joined them. The council also has 38 partners from around the world. In 2021, Lindsay went back to The Cut. She became its editor-in-chief, taking over from Stella Bugbee.
