Lisa Takeba (竹葉リサ, Takeba Risa) is a talented Japanese film director and screenwriter. This means she is in charge of making movies and also writes the stories for them. She was born in Japan in 1983.

Life and Career

Lisa Takeba was born in Japan in 1983. She has worked in many different creative areas. For example, she wrote a story for a game on the Nintendo DS. She also wrote novels that people could read on their mobile phones.

Early Short Films

Starting in 2009, Lisa Takeba began writing and directing short films. These shorter movies helped her develop her skills as a filmmaker.

The Pinkie

Her first full-length movie as a director and writer was a unique romantic comedy called The Pinkie. This film was shown for the first time at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in January 2014. Film festivals are special events where new movies from around the world are shown to audiences and critics.

The Pinkie was nominated for the NETPAC Award at the festival. This award is given to the best Asian feature film. Lisa Takeba traveled to Rotterdam for the movie's showing. She mentioned that another director, Akio Jissoji, greatly influenced her filmmaking style.

The Pinkie was also screened at the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival in February 2014. Here, it won the Grand Prize and the Cinegar Award in the Off Theater Competition. Winning these awards was a big achievement for her first feature film!

Haruko's Paranormal Laboratory

Lisa Takeba's second feature film was called Haruko's Paranormal Laboratory. This movie was about a television that magically came to life! It also had its first showing at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in January 2015. It competed for the Tiger Awards, which are very important prizes at the festival.

This new film was also written and directed by Takeba. Part of the money to make Haruko’s Paranormal Laboratory came from the Grand Prize she won at the Yubari Festival in 2014 for The Pinkie. Haruko’s Paranormal Laboratory was also shown at the Yubari Festival in February 2015.
