Discovering Liseberg's History

Liseberg first opened its gates on May 8, 1923. Imagine all the fun people have had there over the years! It quickly became a favorite spot for families and thrill-seekers.

In 2005, a famous magazine called Forbes Magazine even picked Liseberg as one of the top ten amusement parks in the whole world. By 2010, it was known as Sweden's most popular place to visit. Many famous people have visited Liseberg, including the pop star Michael Jackson in 1988.

When Can You Visit Liseberg?

Liseberg welcomes about 3 million visitors every year. The park is usually open for its main summer season from April until the middle of October. But the fun doesn't stop there! In the winter, Liseberg opens again from November until the end of December for special holiday events.

Liseberg has a total of 41 awesome attractions for you to explore. From super tall drops to thrilling roller coasters, there's something for everyone!

Atmosfear: Europe's Tallest Drop

Atmosfear is the tallest free-fall ride in all of Europe. The tower itself is 116 meters (about 380 feet) high! When you reach the very top, you'll be 146 meters (about 479 feet) above sea level. It takes about 90 seconds to slowly climb to the top, giving you amazing views of Gothenburg. Originally, this tower was an elevator ride just for sightseeing. But in 2010, it was changed into the thrilling free-fall attraction we know today. There's only one other ride in the world quite like Atmosfear, which is the Giant drop in Australia.

Balder: A Wooden Roller Coaster Legend

Balder is Liseberg's biggest and most famous roller coaster. What makes it special is that it's built entirely out of wood! This amazing wooden coaster has been voted the world's best wooden roller coaster many times. Balder stands 36 meters (about 118 feet) tall and its track stretches for 1070 meters (about 3,510 feet) of twists and turns.

FlumeRide: A Classic Water Adventure

FlumeRide is another very popular ride, especially on a warm day! It's a water ride where you sit in logs that float along a track. The ride first opened way back in 1973. It's 610 meters (about 2,000 feet) long, offering a fun splashy journey.

Kanonen: The Looping Coaster

Kanonen is the only roller coaster at Liseberg that has a loop! It was built in 2005. This ride is super fast, reaching its top speed of 75 kilometers per hour (about 47 mph) in just 1.84 seconds. The whole ride lasts about 50 seconds and covers 440 meters (about 1,444 feet).

Helix: A Modern Thrill Ride

Helix is a newer roller coaster that opened in 2014. It's a long and exciting ride, lasting about 130 seconds and stretching for 1,381 meters (about 4,531 feet). Helix reaches a top speed of about 100 kilometres per hour (62 mph) (about 62 mph), making it a truly thrilling experience!
