Lish McBride is an American author who writes exciting urban fantasy stories. These are fantasy tales that happen in modern cities, often with magic hidden in our everyday world. She is best known for her books written for young adults, which are perfect for readers aged 12 to 18.

Her first book, Hold Me Closer, Necromancer, came out in 2010. It's about a regular fast-food worker who discovers he has special powers. He learns he is a necromancer, someone who can communicate with or even control the dead. This book was very popular! It won the Washington State Book Award in 2011 and was also a finalist for the William C. Morris YA Debut Award, which celebrates great first books for young adults.

Her next book, Necromancing the Stone, continued the story and was released in September 2012.

About the Author

Lish McBride grew up near the city of Seattle in Washington state. When she was 21, she moved into Seattle. Later, she went to the University of New Orleans to study writing. She earned a special degree called an MFA in fiction, which means she studied how to write stories at a high level. After finishing her studies, she moved back to Seattle, where she was living in 2010.
