A Look Back at Lisletown's History
Lisletown was named after Benjamin Lisle, who was one of the very first settlers in the area.
When Lisletown Was Active
The community had a post office named Lisle. It opened in 1842 and stayed open for about 18 years, closing in 1860. A post office was an important part of a town back then, showing that people lived and worked there.
What's There Now
Today, you won't find the old town of Lisletown. Instead, the Mari Osa Delta Campground is located on the same spot where the town once stood.
