Adventures in Odyssey is a popular Christian radio drama series created by Focus on the Family. It started way back on November 21, 1987, and is one of the longest-running radio shows still being made! The stories are available as "albums" that you can listen to. They used to be on cassette tapes, but now you can find them on CDs, digital downloads, or through the Adventures in Odyssey Club online.

What Are the Episodes About?

The show is all about the adventures of kids and adults in the town of Odyssey. They learn important lessons about life, faith, and friendship. Many episodes feature characters like John Avery Whittaker (often called Whit), who owns an ice cream shop called Whit's End and invents amazing things like the Imagination Station.

Albums

The episodes of Adventures in Odyssey are grouped into collections called "albums." At first, these albums simply put episodes in the order they aired. Over time, the way albums were put together changed. Later albums didn't always follow the exact order of airing, and some episodes were even edited to remove old announcements.

When the show first started, there was a test series called Family Portraits. Later, the first official album was called Odyssey USA, then Adventures in Odyssey, and now it's known as The Adventure Begins.

Gold Audio Series

Starting in 2003, the first 15 albums were updated and re-released as the "Gold Audio Series." These versions were digitally improved and came out on CD for the first time. They also included special behind-the-scenes content. Some episodes that hadn't been in the original albums were added.

Some older episodes that featured a character named Officer Harley were replaced or edited in these new releases. Also, the order of episodes was sometimes changed to make more sense, and old references to cassette tapes were removed.

Videos

Adventures in Odyssey also released a series of animated videos. These videos came out between 1991 and 2003 and are available on both VHS and DVD.
