This article lists the British officials known as "Residents" or "political agents" who worked for the East India Company in Delhi. They were based at the court of the Mughal emperor between 1803 and 1857. A Resident was like a special representative from the British. Their job was to act as a diplomat, advise the local ruler, and keep an eye on what was happening in the princely state (a state ruled by a local prince).
