Peggy Skilbeck (also known as Sugden) was one of the very first characters in the TV show Emmerdale. She was the only daughter of Annie Sugden. Peggy was actually the first character to speak in the show! Her first words were, "Matt, who's she?"
Peggy married Matt Skilbeck in 1968. In April 1973, they had twins, a son named Sam Skilbeck and a daughter named Sally Skilbeck. Sadly, Peggy died in July 1973 from a brain haemorrhage when she was 26 years old.

John Jacob "Jackie" Merrick was a character in Emmerdale. He was played by Ian Sharrock from 1980 to 1989.
Jackie's Early Life
Jackie first appeared in Emmerdale Farm as a young boy in 1972. He became a regular character in September 1980. Jackie's mother was Pat Merrick, who used to be a girlfriend of Jack Sugden.
After Jack left the village in 1964, Pat married Tom Merrick. She led Tom to believe he was Jackie's father. Jackie celebrated his 18th birthday in November 1982.
Accident and Family Truth
In 1985, Jackie had a serious accident. He was hit by a car driven by Alan Turner while he was fixing his motorbike. Jackie was in a coma for a while.
During his recovery, he finally learned that Jack Sugden was his real father. He started calling Jack his dad.
Marriage and Tragic End
Jackie married Kathy Bates in 1988. However, their marriage was short. Jackie died the next year in a tragic accident.
He was hunting with Seth Armstrong for a £10 bet. Jackie tried to get a shotgun out of his car, but it got stuck. The gun accidentally went off, and Jackie was killed.
