In 2022, the world grew a huge amount of apricots: about 3.86 million metric tonnes! A metric tonne is a unit of weight, equal to 1,000 kilograms. That's a lot of fruit! This was a bit more than in 2021, showing that apricot farming is growing.

Some countries grow a massive amount of apricots, more than 100,000 tonnes each year! These are the biggest producers globally.

Countries Producing Over 100,000 Tonnes

• Turkey is the world's biggest apricot producer. In 2022, they grew about 803,000 tonnes! They also grew a lot in 2021.
• Uzbekistan comes in second, producing over 451,000 tonnes in 2022.
• Iran is another major grower, with more than 305,000 tonnes in 2022.
• Italy and Algeria also grow a lot of apricots, each producing over 200,000 tonnes in 2022.
• Other countries that produced over 100,000 tonnes in 2022 include Pakistan, Afghanistan, France, Armenia, and Greece. It's interesting to see how much production can change year to year, like France's production growing a lot from 2021 to 2022.

Countries Producing 50,000 to 100,000 Tonnes

Many other countries also grow a significant amount of apricots, though not as much as the top ten. These countries produced between 50,000 and 100,000 tonnes in 2022.

• Japan and Russia are among these, with Japan producing nearly 97,000 tonnes and Russia about 85,000 tonnes in 2022.
• Spain also grows a lot, though their production went down a bit from 2021 to 2022.

A large number of countries produce between 10,000 and 50,000 tonnes of apricots each year. This shows that apricots are grown in many different parts of the world!

• The United States also falls into this category, producing around 26,890 tonnes in 2022.
