How Districts are Managed
Each district in Manipur is like a smaller region that has its own leaders. The main leader of a district is called a District Magistrate or a Deputy Commissioner. Think of them as the principal of a big school, making sure everything runs smoothly. They are part of a special group of officers called the Indian Administrative Service. Many other officials help them with different tasks to serve the people.
To keep everyone safe and maintain peace, there's also a Superintendent of Police in each district. They are like the head of security, making sure laws are followed and people are safe. This officer belongs to the Indian Police Service.
A few years ago, on December 9, 2016, the government of Manipur created 7 new districts. This brought the total number of districts in the state to 16. This was done to make it easier to manage different areas and provide services to people more effectively.
