List of governors of Kebbi State facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Kebbi State, located in northwestern Nigeria, was created on August 27, 1991. It was formed by splitting off from the larger Sokoto State. Since its creation, Kebbi State has been led by various important people. These leaders are called either "Administrators" or "Governors."

Administrators were usually military officers who managed the state during times of military rule. Governors are elected by the people and lead the state in a democratic government. Both roles are very important for managing the state, making laws, and ensuring the well-being of its citizens. They oversee everything from schools and hospitals to roads and safety.

Since its beginning, Kebbi State has had several leaders. These individuals have guided the state through different periods, both military and civilian. Each leader played a key role in the development and daily life of the state.

  • Usman Saidu Nasamu Dakingari followed Adamu Aliero. He took office on May 29, 2007, and also served for two terms, ending on May 29, 2015. He was a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). During his time, Aminu Musa Habib Jega served as Acting Governor for a few months, from February 24, 2012, to May 25, 2012.
