The Mayor of Sacramento is the leader of the city of Sacramento, California. The mayor works with the Sacramento City Council to make important decisions for the city. They help guide Sacramento's growth and make sure it's a great place to live.
Sacramento's city government started a long time ago. The first City Council meeting happened on August 1, 1849. Citizens then approved the city's rules on October 13, 1849. California officially recognized Sacramento as a city on February 27, 1850. The city was officially formed on March 18, 1850.
