The little crow (Corvus bennetti) is a type of crow found in Australia. It looks a lot like the Torresian crow. One way to tell them apart is by the white feathers at the base of their neck and head. You can see these white feathers when the wind ruffles their feathers!
Little crows are a bit smaller than Torresian crows, usually about 38 to 45 centimeters long. They also have a slightly smaller beak. Like other Australian crows, they have a unique white ring around their eye's pupil. This helps tell them apart from most other crows around the world.

Where Little Crows Live
Little crows live across western and central Australia. They often prefer very dry areas, even near deserts. You might also spot them in small country towns and on farms. Sometimes, large groups of them gather, which can remind people of the European rook.
What Little Crows Eat
Little crows mostly find their food on the ground. Their diet includes many different things like insects and seeds from cereal plants. They are not as much of a scavenger as the Torresian crow, meaning they don't eat as much leftover food or dead animals.
Nesting and Reproduction
Little crows usually build their nests in small groups. They make stick nests and line them with mud. This is special because the little crow is the only Australian crow species known to use mud in its nest!
Little Crow Calls
The sounds little crows make can vary a lot. They might make a harsh hark-hark-hark-hark sound. Sometimes, their calls sound more like a raven's ah-ah-ah.
