Elizabeth Anne Davenport (born 12 April 1945) is an Australian fashion designer and businesswoman. She is known for creating clothes and running her own company. She also cares deeply about protecting Australia's very old forests.
Elizabeth Davenport leads her own fashion company, Liz Davenport Fashion Pty Ltd. She has spent a long time working to save Australia's old-growth forests. These are ancient forests that have grown for many years without being cut down.
Working for Change
In 2001, Elizabeth Davenport tried to become a politician. She ran for election in an area called Nedlands in Western Australia. She was part of a group called Liberals for Forests. This group wanted to protect forests. However, she did not win a seat in the state parliament.
Later that same year, she also ran in a national election for the whole country. Again, she was not elected. Even though she didn't win these elections, she continued her work in fashion and conservation.
Awards and Recognition
Elizabeth Davenport has received several important awards in Australia for her work.
- Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM): This award was given to her "For service to the fashion industry, and to the community." It means she was recognized for her great contributions to fashion and for helping people in her community.
- HRH Queen Sirikit of Thailand – Silk Festival: She was also honored at a special event by the Queen of Thailand. This shows her international recognition in the fashion world, especially for her work with silk.
