Llofriu is a small village in Catalonia, Spain. It's part of the larger town of Palafrugell, located in an area called Baix Empordà. In 2005, about 294 people lived there. The name Llofriu comes from an old Germanic language.

The village has a very old church, the Church of St. Fruitós. Records from 1121 mention this church. For many years, it was connected to a special religious house in Barcelona.

The Church of Saint Fructuosus

The Church of Saint Fructuosus of Llofriu is a very old building. The church you see today was built in the 1600s. It replaced an even older church that was built in a style called Romanesque. Only some old iron pieces on the door remain from the original Romanesque church.

The church has a main hall with smaller chapels on the sides. It also has a square bell tower. In 1638, soldiers attacked and damaged the church. This happened because of a revolt in Palafrugell.

The Old Village (Nucli Antic)

The "Nucli Antic" means the Old Village. It's a collection of traditional buildings from the 1600s to the 1800s. The oldest house in this area dates back to 1764. You can see this date carved on one of its doors.

Llofriu Cemetery

The Cementiri de Llofriu is the village cemetery. It was built in 1895 in a style called Neoclassical. A famous writer named Josep Pla i Casadevall is buried here.

Mas Pla Farmhouse

Mas Pla is an old farmhouse from the 1600s. It is located very close to Palafrugell, right next to the C-31 road.

Manor of Bassa Rocas (Can Bassa)

The Manor of Bassa Rocas, also known as Can Bassa, is a large old house from the 1500s. This house used to belong to the Bassa family. Members of this family made important cultural contributions in Catalonia and even in America.

After the family moved out, the house became a primary school for children. Later, it was turned into a cultural center. It reopened to the public in 2008.
