From 1800 to 1816, people called him The Lord Frankfort. He was also a member of the Privy Council of Ireland, a group of advisors to the ruler.

Serving in Parliament

Later, he represented other areas. From 1776 to 1796, he was a representative for Bandon Bridge. Then, he served for Ennis from 1796 to 1797. Finally, he represented Dingle from 1798 to 1800.

Becoming a Peer

In 1800, he received a special honor. He was made a Baron Frankfort in the Peerage of Ireland. This meant he became a Lord, with the title Baron Frankfort. The title was connected to Galmoye in County Kilkenny.

Name Change and New Title

In 1815, Lodge Morres changed his last name to de Montmorency. He did this by a special permission from the King. He wanted to use the name of the famous French House of Montmorency family. However, that French family did not agree that he was part of their lineage.
