Lord Bargany facts for kids
Lord Bargany was a special noble title created in Scotland on November 14, 1639. It was given to Sir John Hamilton of Carriden. He was the son of Sir John Hamilton of Letterick.
This title could only be passed down to the first Lord's male children and their male descendants. The title stopped being used after the death of the 4th Lord Bargany, James Hamilton, in 1736. After that, the Bargany family estate went to John Dalrymple, who then changed his name to Hamilton.

The title of Lord Bargany was held by four different people. They were all part of the Hamilton family.
- John Hamilton, 1st Lord Bargany (died 1658)
- John Hamilton, 2nd Lord Bargany (died 1693)
- William Hamilton, 3rd Lord Bargany (died 1712)
- James Hamilton, 4th Lord Bargany (born 1710, died 1736)
