Lorenzo Manuel Silva Amador, born on June 7, 1966, in Madrid, Spain, is a famous Spanish writer. He is well-known for his exciting novels, especially those featuring two detective characters, Sergeant Bevilacqua and Corporal Chamorro. Before becoming a full-time writer, he studied law and worked as a lawyer for ten years, from 1992 to 2002.
Lorenzo Silva has written many stories, articles, and essays, but he is most famous for his novels. One of his novels, El alquimista impaciente (The Impatient Alchemist), won the prestigious Nadal Prize in 2000. This book was even made into a movie in 2002. It was the second book to feature his popular detective duo, Sergeant Bevilacqua and Corporal Chamorro. Another of his novels, La flaqueza del bolchevique (The Faint-Hearted Bolshevik), was a runner-up for the Nadal Prize in 1997 and was also adapted into a movie.
In 2001, Lorenzo Silva tried a cool experiment: he wrote a novel online where readers could vote on how each chapter would end. This interactive story, called La isla del fin de la suerte (The Island at the End of Luck), was a big hit and was later published as a regular book. In October 2012, he won another major award, the Premio Planeta de Novela, for his novel La Marca del meridiano (The Meridian Mark).
