Lorenzo Manuel Silva Amador (born June 7, 1966, in Carabanchel, Madrid) is a well-known Spanish writer. He has won many awards for his books.

After studying law at the Complutense University of Madrid, he worked as a lawyer. He did this job from 1992 to 2002.

Lorenzo Silva has written many stories, articles, and essays. But he is most famous for his novels. One of his novels, El alquimista impaciente (The Impatient Alchemist), won the Nadal Prize in 2000. This book was also made into a movie in 2002. It features two of his most popular characters: Sergeant Bevilacqua and Corporal Chamorro. They are agents from the Guardia Civil, which is like a police force in Spain.

Another of his novels, La flaqueza del bolchevique (The Weakness of the Bolshevik), was a runner-up for a prize in 1997. This book was also made into a movie. It was translated into English in 2013.

In 2001, Silva tried something new. He wrote a novel with help from his readers online. He would write a chapter and then offer three possible endings. Readers would vote for their favorite ending. The most popular choice became the next part of the story. This experiment was very successful. The finished novel, La isla del fin de la suerte (The Island at the End of Luck), was later published as a regular book.

In October 2012, he won the important Premio Planeta de Novela for his book La Marca del meridiano (The Meridian Mark).
