Los trabajos de Persiles y Sigismunda (which means "The Travails of Persiles and Sigismunda") is a special kind of adventure story called a romance novel. It was written by the famous Spanish author Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. This book was his very last work. It is quite different from his more famous novel, Don Quixote. While Don Quixote is known for being very realistic, Persiles is full of amazing and fantastic adventures.
Even though most people know Cervantes for Don Quixote, he actually believed Persiles was his greatest achievement. He finished writing it just three days before he passed away. The book was published in 1617, after his death.
