Louisa Pitt facts for kids
Louisa Pitt (born between 1754 and 1756, died 1791) was an English noblewoman from the 18th century. She was the second daughter of George Pitt, who was a British diplomat and politician. He was also known as the 1st Baron Rivers. Her mother was Penelope Atkins.
Early Life and Family
Louisa Pitt was born in Stratfield Saye, a place in Hampshire, England. Her father, George Pitt, 1st Baron Rivers, worked for the British government in other countries (a diplomat) and also helped make laws in England (a politician). This meant her family was quite important in society.
Marriage and Children
On March 22, 1773, Louisa married Sir Peter Beckford in Dorset. Sir Peter was known for his writing and for being a keen hunter. He was also a cousin to William Thomas Beckford, a famous English writer who wrote a well-known Gothic novel called Vathek.
Louisa and Sir Peter had several children together. Their son, Horace, later became the 3rd Baron Rivers. This happened because he inherited the title after his uncle and grandfather.
