LuLu and the TomCat (also known as LuLu et le Matou in French) is a fun musical group for kids! They started in Roland, Manitoba, Canada, in 2001. This group makes awesome children's albums and performs concerts for families. They have even been nominated for a Juno Award, which is a very important music award in Canada!

Music and Books by LuLu and the TomCat

LuLu and the TomCat have created nine music albums and 60 books so far! Their very first English CD, called All the Cats Were Playin', won a Prairie Music Award for being the Best Children's Recording. Their second English album, 3,2,1 Kadoozee, also won a Western Canadian Music Award for Best Children's Recording.

Their third album, Stick To It, was special because it was multilingual, meaning it had songs in more than one language. It won a Parent's Choice Award and a Children's Music Web Award.

Learning French with Music

LuLu and the TomCat also made a French CD called Faites de la musique!. This album came with nine books and was a new way to help people learn French through music. It was nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award for Best Children's Album.

Dinosaur Rock and More

Their album Fossil Rock was released in 2008. Four of its 14 songs were about dinosaurs! The Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre in Morden, Manitoba asked them to write these songs. Fossil Rock was also nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award for Best Children's Album.

In 2010, they released their second French CD, Le dragon Gaston, which came with 12 books. This album was nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award for Francophone Album of the Year. Later that year, they released Lullaby LuLu, a collection of calm songs for both kids and adults.

Their eighth recording, The World of Odd, was nominated for Best Children's Album at the Western Canadian Music Awards in 2012. Their most recent French album, Le Chat Botté, came out in 2013. It was nominated for "Francophone Album of the Year" at the Western Canadian Music Awards in 2014 and for a Juno Award for Children's Album of The Year.

Awards and Recognitions

LuLu and the TomCat have won many awards for their original songs and albums.

  • They have earned three Parents' Choice Awards.
  • They also received a Children's Music Web Award.
  • They won a Western Canadian Music Award and a Prairie Music Award.
  • Their work has been recognized with two Canadian Children's Book Centre "Our Choice" awards.

Of their nine albums, seven have been nominated for Western Canadian Music Awards, and two of their albums have won these awards. One of their albums has also received a Juno nomination, which is a very big honor in Canadian music!
