Lube Motorcycles

Lube Motorcycles was a Spanish company that built motorcycles. It was founded in 1947 in a town called Barakaldo. The company used engines from another motorcycle maker, NSU, which was a German company.

The Story of Lube Motorcycles

In 1947, a talented engineer named Luis Bejarano Morga started the Lube-Nsu company. He set up the factory in Luchana, which is part of Barakaldo. Luis had worked as an engineer for nearly 30 years at a company called Douglas in Bristol, England. This long experience gave him the skills he needed to start his own motorcycle company.

Luis first tried to get steel from Douglas, but that plan didn't work out because Douglas went out of business. Before that, in 1946, he had designed his own motorcycle called the LBM. The name LBM came from his own initials: Luis Bejarano Morga. He kept improving his designs, and soon he started making a series of bikes called the A-99.

At its busiest time, Lube Motorcycles built almost 1,000 bikes every year. They were so popular that many people called them "the bike of the people."

In 1952, Luis Bejarano made a deal with the German company NSU Motorenwerke AG. Today, NSU is part of Audi. Because of this agreement, Lube started using German technology and parts in their motorcycles. Around this time, the company began to develop new models, including the "Renn" series.

Sadly, the Lube Motorcycles company closed down in 1967.
