Lucia Nader is a Brazilian leader who works to make the world a better place. She is known as a social entrepreneur and a human rights activist. This means she creates new ways to solve social problems and fights for everyone's basic rights.

Currently, Lucia is a fellow with the Open Society Foundations. She is studying how important groups that work for social good are changing in today's fast-paced world. Her project is called "Solid Organizations in a Liquid World." Before this, she was the Executive Director of Conectas Human Rights until December 2014.

Lucia studied at the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences-Po) and the Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP). She earned degrees in international relations and how countries work together.

Lucia Nader's Career

Lucia Nader started her career helping others as a volunteer at Instituto Sou da Paz in 1999. There, she helped manage the organization's relationships and communications.

In 2003, she joined Conectas Human Rights. This group works to protect human rights. At Conectas, Lucia held several important roles:

  • She was a coordinator for their network from 2003 to 2005.
  • She managed international relations from 2006 to 2011.
  • She became the Executive Director from 2011 to 2014, leading the entire organization.

Lucia also created a special project at Conectas called the Foreign Policy and Human Rights Project. This project looked at how Brazil's actions on the world stage affected human rights. She also served as the executive secretary for the Brazilian Foreign Policy and Human Rights Committee.

Working for Change

In 2009, Lucia was recognized as a social entrepreneur by Ashoka. This is a big honor for people who come up with new ideas to solve social problems.

Lucia is also part of many important groups and boards. These include:

  • LARCI – Latin American Regional Climate Initiative (since 2015), which works on climate issues in Latin America.
  • Fund for Global Human Rights (United States, since 2014), which supports human rights efforts worldwide.
  • CPJA – Think tank on Rule of Law and Civil Society (Brazil, since 2013), a group that studies how laws and society work together.
  • CCPR – Centre for Civil and Political Rights (Switzerland, since 2009), which focuses on civil and political rights.

These roles show her dedication to making a positive difference in the world.
