Lucia Nader facts for kids
Lucia Nader is a Brazilian expert who works to make the world a better place. She is known for helping people and protecting their rights. She is a "social entrepreneur," which means she finds new ways to solve big problems in society. She is also a "human rights activist," meaning she works hard to make sure everyone is treated fairly.
Currently, Lucia is working with the Open Society Foundations. She is studying how groups that help people are changing in today's fast-paced world. Her project is called "Solid Organizations in a Liquid World." Before December 2014, she was the leader of an important group called Conectas Human Rights.
Lucia studied international relations at the Catholic University of São Paulo. She also earned a special degree in Development and International Organizations from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences-Po).
Lucia Nader's Work
Lucia Nader began her career helping out at an organization called Instituto Sou da Paz in 1999. There, she became the person in charge of talking with other groups and sharing information.
In 2003, she joined Conectas Human Rights. She held several important roles there. First, she helped connect different groups. Then, she managed international relationships. From 2011 to 2014, she was the Executive Director, leading the entire organization.
Lucia also started a special project at Conectas about how a country's foreign policy affects human rights. She was also the main secretary for a Brazilian committee focused on foreign policy and human rights.
In 2009, Ashoka, a group that supports social entrepreneurs, recognized Lucia for her innovative work. She is currently a member of the boards or groups for many organizations. These include LARCI (since 2015), GACINT at the University of Sao Paulo (since 2014), and the Fund for Global Human Rights in the United States (since 2014). She also helps guide groups like CPJA (since 2013), Ação Educativa (since 2013), ITS (since 2013), Data 4 Good (since 2013), and CCPR in Switzerland (since 2009).
