Luciano Re Cecconi (born December 1, 1948 – died January 18, 1977) was an Italian football player. He was a fast, strong, and hardworking midfielder. He was known for his speed and energy on the field. Luciano could play in different midfield roles for his teams. People also knew him for his great sense of humor. His nickname was l'Angelo Biondo, which means The Blond Angel, because of his hair color.

Playing for Clubs

Luciano Re Cecconi started his football career with a team called Pro Patria. He made his first appearance for them on April 14, 1968. At that time, Pro Patria was in a league called Serie C.

Later, he moved to Foggia. He helped Foggia get promoted from Serie B to Serie A in the 1969–70 season. Serie A is the top football league in Italy.

In 1972, Luciano joined S.S. Lazio. He became a very important player for Lazio. He helped them win the Serie A title in the 1973–74 season. During that winning season, he played in 23 games and scored two goals. He also won a league title with Lazio's under-21 team in the same year.

Playing for Italy

Luciano Re Cecconi was chosen to be part of Italy's squad for the 1974 FIFA World Cup. This is a huge honor for any football player.

After the World Cup, he played two friendly matches for the Italian national team in 1974. He also played for Italy's under-23 team.

A Tragic Accident

Luciano Re Cecconi died in Rome on January 18, 1977. This happened during a tragic accident. He was playing a practical joke on a friend who owned a jewelry shop. Sadly, the joke went wrong, leading to his untimely death.
