Lucy Jones (born in 1955) is a talented British artist. She is known for her paintings and prints. Lucy was born with cerebral palsy, which is a condition that affects movement. She lives in Ludlow, England, but grew up in London.
Lucy Jones's Artistic Journey
Lucy Jones went to the King Alfred School, London. She then studied art at the Byam Shaw School of Art from 1975 to 1977. After that, she attended the Camberwell School of Art from 1976 to 1979. Finally, she studied at the famous Royal College of Arts from 1979 to 1982.
In 1982, Lucy won a special award called the Prix de Rome. This prize allowed her to study art in Rome, Italy, for two years. Lucy had her very first art show in 1987 at the Flowers Gallery. Since then, her art has been shown in many places. She has exhibited her work all over the UK and in other countries.
For example, her art was shown at the Attenborough Arts Centre in 2019. It was also displayed at the Christ Church, Oxford Picture Gallery in 2021. Her paintings are part of important art collections. These include the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Her work is also at the National Portrait Gallery in London. In 2021, Lucy won the Ruth Borchard self-portraiture prize. She won it for her self-portrait called Being 66.
