In 1741, Sir Ludovick Grant was chosen by voters to become a Member of Parliament. This meant he would represent the area of Elginshire in the House of Commons. The House of Commons is a very important part of the UK government where laws are discussed and made. He served in this role for many years, from 1741 until 1761.
Family Life
Sir Ludovick Grant was married twice. His first wife was Marian Dalrymple. Later, he married Lady Margaret Ogilvy. Her father was a well-known statesman named James Ogilvy, 4th Earl of Findlater and 1st Earl of Seafield.
Later Years
Sir Ludovick Grant lived in Edinburgh, and his last known home was in a place called Parliament Close. He passed away in March 1773, when he was 66 years old. After his death, his son from his second marriage, James Grant, took over the title as the 8th Baronet.
