Luis Carlos Croissier Batista (born 1950) is a Spanish politician and business leader. He served as the Minister of Industry and Energy for Spain from 1986 to 1988.

Early Life and Education
Luis Carlos Croissier was born on August 18, 1950, in Arucas, a town in the Canary Islands of Spain. He later moved to mainland Spain to attend university. He studied Economics at the Complutense University of Madrid. During his time there, he joined the Communist Party of Spain (PCE), which was a secret group at the time.
After his studies in Madrid, Croissier went to Paris to continue learning about Economics. He returned to Spain in 1974. After the end of the dictatorship in Spain, he joined a special group of highly skilled civil servants.
Political Career
Croissier became involved in politics with the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE). He ran in the 1982 general election. In 1983, he became a member of the Congress of Deputies. This is like being a member of parliament in Spain. He represented the area of Madrid. However, he soon gave up his seat.
Leading Public Companies
In 1984, Luis Carlos Croissier became the President of the Instituto Nacional de Industria (INI). The INI was a large state-owned company that managed many different industries in Spain. During his time as president, many parts of the public sector were sold to private companies. This process is called privatization.
Minister of Industry and Energy
In July 1986, at the age of 35, Croissier was chosen to be the Minister of Industry and Energy. He was part of the government led by Prime Minister Felipe González. In this role, he was in charge of important areas like factories, energy production, and new technologies for the country.
Financial Regulator Role
After his time as a minister, Croissier took on another important job. From 1988 to 1996, he was the very first president of the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV). The CNMV is like a referee for the financial markets in Spain. It makes sure that buying and selling stocks and other investments is fair and safe for everyone.
Later Career
After leaving his public service roles, Luis Carlos Croissier joined the boards of directors for several companies. These included well-known businesses like Adolfo Domínguez, Eolia, High Tech Hoteles, Jazztel, Repsol YPF, and Alantra. Being on a board of directors means helping to guide the company's decisions and future plans.
