Luisa Rafaela de Valdés Morales (born 1654, died after 1685) was a talented Spanish artist. She was known as Luisa de Morales or Maria Luisa Morales. Luisa was a painter and an engraver, which means she made pictures by carving designs into metal or wood.
Luisa was the daughter and student of a famous painter named Juan de Valdés Leal. She learned many art skills from him. She even helped her father by adding fine painted details to his sculptures, like clothing. She also made small drawings of the city of Seville.

Luisa was the first child of Juan de Valdés Leal and his wife, Isabel Martínez de Morales. Some people believe her mother was also a painter. Luisa was born in Córdoba and was baptized on December 26, 1654.

Luisa de Morales became famous for her illustrations. She created three pictures for an important book. The book was written by Fernando de la Torre Farfán. Its long title was Fiestas de la S. Iglesia metropolitana, Patriarcal de Sevilla al Nuevo Culto del Señor Rey S. Fernando el Tercero de Castilla y de León.
Marriage and Family
In August 1672, Luisa married Felipe Martínez in Seville. About a year later, in November 1673, she had her first daughter, Catalina.
After three years, Luisa's marriage ended. She then moved back home to live with her parents and her daughter. She lived with them from 1674 until at least 1686.
