Lwazi Ncedo Mvovo (born 3 June 1986) is a retired South African professional rugby union player. He was known for his amazing speed and skill on the field. Lwazi played for the Springboks, which is South Africa's national rugby team. He also played for the Sharks in big competitions like Super Rugby and the Currie Cup. He went to Maria Louw High School.

Early Rugby Days

Lwazi Mvovo started his professional rugby journey with the Sharks. His very first game for the Sharks was on 27 June 2008. This match was against the Boland Cavaliers in Durban.

Scoring Tries

Lwazi quickly became a top try-scorer. In the 2010 Currie Cup tournament, he scored twelve tries. This made him the second-highest try-scorer in that competition. He also did very well in the Super Rugby competition. There, he scored six tries, tying for the second-highest try-scorer.

Playing for the Springboks

In October 2010, Lwazi Mvovo was chosen for the South African national team, the Springboks. This was a big moment in his career. He joined a squad of 39 players to get ready for a tour in Europe.

International Debut

Lwazi made his first appearance for the Springboks on 20 November 2010. This game was against Scotland at Murrayfield, and South Africa lost 21–17. Just a week later, on 27 November 2010, he scored his first international try. This important try happened against England at Twickenham, helping South Africa win 21–11.

Tri Nations Competition

In 2011, Mvovo played in the Tri Nations tournament. His first game in this series was on 23 July 2011. It was a tough match against Australia in Sydney, which South Africa lost 39–20. He then played against New Zealand in Wellington, wearing the number 11 jersey.

Retirement

Lwazi Mvovo officially retired from playing rugby on 4 February 2021. He retired at the age of 34, after a successful career.
