The Story of Lyle the Crocodile
The adventure begins when Lyle and Mrs. Primm go shopping. They meet their grumpy neighbor, Mr. Grumps. Mr. Grumps does not like Lyle. He thinks Lyle is a problem because he scares his cat, Loretta. Because of this, Mr. Grumps has Lyle sent to the zoo.
But Lyle is not alone for long! His old performing friend, Mr. Valenti, helps him escape. Lyle and Mr. Valenti then return to the house on 88th Street. When they arrive, they see Mr. Grumps' house is on fire! Lyle bravely rushes in and saves Mr. Grumps. Because of his heroic act, Lyle is declared a hero. This means he can stay safely with the Primms family.

Lyle's TV Appearances
A musical film based on Lyle, Lyle Crocodile was released. It came out on HBO on November 18, 1987. Two years later, it was available for home video. HBO also created a television cartoon called HBO Storybook Musicals, which featured Lyle.
