Liudmyla Mykolaivna Kuchma (born 19 June 1940) is known as the wife of Leonid Kuchma. He was the second President of Ukraine from 1994 to 2005. This made her the First Lady of Ukraine during his time in office. Before becoming First Lady, she worked as an engineer.

Early Life and Education
Liudmyla Kuchma was born in Udmurtia, which is a part of Russia today. As a child, she went to a music school. This school was located in the house-museum of the famous composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Later, she studied at a mechanical college.
Her Career as an Engineer
For 30 years, Liudmyla Kuchma worked as an engineer. She was part of a design team at a large company in a city called Dnipropetrovsk. Her job involved planning and creating designs for different products.
Personal Life and Family
In 1967, she married Leonid Kuchma. He later became the President of Ukraine. Their daughter, Olena, was born in 1970.
Awards and Special Roles
Liudmyla Kuchma has received several important awards. In 1998, she was given the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas. In 2010, she received the Order of Princess Olga First Class.
Since 1996, she has been the Honorary President of a group called the National Fund for Social Protection of Mother and Child. This group helps mothers and children in need.
In 2004, she became a Special Ambassador for UNESCO. UNESCO is a part of the United Nations that works to build peace through education, science, and culture. Her role was to help young talented people.
