Mía Gayle Asenjo Mahabirsingh (born on March 7, 2003) is a talented soccer player. She plays as a left winger, which means she plays on the left side of the field, often helping with attacks. Mía currently plays for the UCF Knights college team. Even though she was born in the United States, she plays for the Dominican Republic national team.

Early Life and Family
Mía Asenjo grew up in Malverne, New York. Her father, Erick Asenjo, is from the Dominican Republic. Her mother, Kimberly 'Kim' Grant, is American. Mía's parents are divorced.
College Soccer Career
On November 20, 2020, Mía decided to play soccer for the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida.
During the 2021 season, she was a redshirt freshman. This means she practiced with the team but did not play in official games. It's often done to help players develop or recover from injuries.
Mía played her first college game during the 2022 season. She appeared in 18 games that year.
Club Soccer Career
In 2022, after recovering from some knee injuries, Mía played for Queensboro FC in the USL W League. She was an amazing player for her team that year.
Mía scored 11 goals in just 12 games, making her the top scorer for Queensboro FC during the 2022 season. She was also recognized as one of the best players in the league. She was nominated for the USL W League Player of the Year award and was named to the league's Team of the Year.
Playing for Her Country
Mía has played for the Dominican Republic on the international stage. In 2020, she played for the Dominican Republic's Under-20 team in the 2020 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship.
She made her first appearance for the main Dominican Republic national team on February 18, 2021. This was in a friendly game against Puerto Rico.
During a call-up for the national team, Mía suffered a serious knee injury. She tore several important ligaments and her meniscus. This injury meant she could not play during the 2021 NCAA college season.
International Goals
Mía has scored goals for the Dominican Republic national team. Her first goal for the senior team was on February 18, 2021. It was during a friendly match against Puerto Rico, where she scored the first goal for her team, leading to a 1–1 tie.
