About MCL Restaurants
MCL Restaurant & Bakery began in 1950. It started with one cafeteria in Indianapolis, Indiana. Two friends, Charles O. McGaughey and George Laughner, founded it. The name MCL comes from the first letters of their last names.
Today, the company is owned by the McGaughey family. It is a private company, meaning its shares are not traded on a stock market. In 2007, the company changed its name. It went from "MCL Cafeterias" to "MCL Restaurant and Bakery." Even with the new name, the way they made their food stayed the same. MCL also had a friendly competition with Laughner's Cafeteria. That restaurant was started by a cousin of one of the founders.
