- The Anaga Mountains
The Macizo de Anaga is a special mountain area. It is found in the northeast part of Tenerife island. Tenerife is one of the Canary Islands. The highest point in Anaga is Cruz de Taborno, which is 1,024 meters tall.
This mountain range stretches from Punta de Anaga in the northeast. It goes all the way to Cruz del Carmen in the southwest. Anaga has many mountain peaks. Some of these are Bichuelo, Anambro, and Chinobre.
The Anaga mountains were formed a very long time ago. About 7 to 9 million years ago, a volcano erupted. This eruption created these mountains. This makes Anaga the oldest part of the island of Tenerife.
Since 1987, Anaga has been a protected area. It was first called a "natural park." Later, in 1994, it became a "rural park." In 2015, something even more special happened.
